Why Borgione Decided to Get an App

The Borgione company sells educational childrens’ toys, furniture, and stationery. It’s been in business for over 50 years, and its brand website – made in Magento – was first released in 2014. Since then, Borgione has added more functions to the website.

Having an m-commerce app was the next logical step for Borgione. The goal was to reach more customers at more touch points and to give them a fast, easy way to browse content and make orders. A key concern was easy integration with Magento – and using JMango, Borgione quickly made an app that integrated with their existing back-end and required no coding to publish or manage.

The Results so Far...

Based on the excellent performance of e-commerce apps in general, expectations were high. Fortunately, the very first weeks brought in hundreds of orders from the app, providing instant proof of concept for the mobile marketing effort. The very first weeks brought in 1,500 downloads, with the app quickly expanding to provide 2.5% of the brand’s entire e-commerce revenue.

Anecdotally speaking, customers are getting more and more engaged with the app on a daily basis. We expect that this trend will continue in the coming weeks and months. With the app being so easy to manage, we also expect to tweak our strategy in the future for superior performance. Something that we quite enjoyed was the actual experience of making the app.

Working with some developers involves missed deadlines, unforeseen problems, and misunderstandings between the tech team and the marketing team. None of that happened here.
